Engine by Starling has been recognised as a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Retail Core Banking Systems, Europe.
It is our view that this recognition reflects the robustness of our technology platform and our ability to partner with banks and implementation partners to meet client delivery objectives on time. Engine has been able to successfully execute major digital banking programmes in Romania and Australia, with both digital banks being developed and built in 12 months.
Salt Bank, Romania’s first digital bank, was successfully launched on Engine’s core banking platform in April 2024 and currently services 480,000 customers with ambitions to reach 700,000 in 2025. AMP Bank’s new digital proposition in Australia was publicly launched in February 2025, providing a mobile-first experience for underserved small business owners and everyday banking customers.
Commenting on the inclusion, Sam Everington, Chief Executive Officer, Engine, said: “We think this recognition speaks volumes about the strength and effectiveness of our approach. From our perspective, to have been recognised for our execution ability reflects the significant achievements of the last few years; having delivered feature-rich, fully integrated and localised digital banks for two clients within 12 months each time.
Our platform is proven to enable very high levels of employee and customer satisfaction, at a low cost to serve, at scale, and with outstanding levels of resilience. We’re successfully executing, delivering on our promises and getting clients to market quickly while building strong, trust-based partnerships. We believe inclusion in this report reinforces our ability to deliver value and highlights the potential of our solution to drive transformation in the banking sector. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited for the journey ahead."
